The Amity Lady Spartans varsity Softball team is a mighty team of talented athletes.

At Monday’s State semi-final against Southington, they were far behind and it wasn’t looking good … until.

I wish I could write sports stories like Mike Madera from the New Haven Register. (actually, I wish I knew how to write a decent sports story).

Since I wasn’t able to attend the game, (I was getting ready for the Sondheim Awards) but I think the girls deserve proper attention, I give you Gametime’s excellent coverage of the game.

Photos are courtesy of Amity Mom Myla Chadwick, an amazing photographer who has an excellent relationship with the girls on the team. No one else can get pictures like this. THANK YOU.

IMG_1955The Amity Spartans hosted the Southington Blue Knights for the CIAC Class LL Quarter-final in Woodbridge Saturday afternoon.

The teams seemed fairly evenly matched through the top of the fourth inning with great pitching on both sides. THEN Amity showed why they are Number 1 with four runs in the bottom of the fourth.

The Blue Knights managed to get one run in the fifth inning, but that was the end of it.

The Spartans picked up another run in the sixth inning and that’s all she wrote — Amity wins 5-1 and advances to the Semi-finals.

Amity will face New Milford at Muzzy field in Bristol Tuesday night at 7 p.m.
