The Blades (Amity/Cheshire/North Haven) girls’ ice hockey team hosted the Branford Hornets in Hamden today, Saturday, Feb. 2, at 3 p.m.

The first period belonged to the Blades. Andrea DelVecchio opened the game with a goal, assisted by Shannon Reilly and Haley Cable.

Ilana Leynar then shot one in, assisted by Nadia DiNatale and Hanna Sosensky, which was followed by Meaghan Hogan’s solo goal.

First Period Score: 3-0 Blades

Branford stepped up in the second period. Meagan Montenaro made an unassisted goal for the Hornets, and then she assisted Emma Sheehan when she scored.

Second Period Score: 3-2 Blades

The Blades owned the third period with DelVecchio netting a hat trick. The first goal was assisted by Reilly and Cable, the second by Reilly.

Final Score: 5-2 Blades

Saves: Both Goalies worked tirelessly. Caitlyn Ranciatto made 24 saves for the Blades. Christina Meadows made 22 Saves for the Hornets.

Records: Blades 7-9, Branford 5-1-7

Next Up For The Blades: The girls are away at the Northford Ice Pavilion on Wednesday, Feb. 6 for a matchup against Hand-Coginchaug-Old Lyme at 8:30 p.m.

 The Blades (Amity-N.Haven-Cheshire) Varsity Girls Ice Hockey team was on the road in Milford Wednesday, Jan. 10 for a game against the Notre Dame Fairfield (ND-Fairfield/Law/Foran/Weston) Lancers
Period 1
Notre Dame got things started with a goal by Laura Dennigan, assisted by Anne Scovill. Andrea DelVecchio tied the game with a goal for the Blades on an assist from Shannon Reilly. DelVecchio scored again, assisted by Olivia Dittman, pulling the Blades ahead 2-1 for the first period.
Period 2

The second period belonged to the Blades, starting with a shot by Cally Dixon, assisted by Tess Csejka and Melissa Montessi, next, Shannon Reilly made a goal, assisted by DelVecchio and Haley Cable. The trio of Dixon, Csejka, and Montessi wrapped up the second period with another goal, bringing the score to 5-1.

Period 3

The Blades also dominated the third period with unassisted goals by both Meghan Hogan and Csejka, bringing the final score to 7-1 BLADES!

The Amity/North Haven/Cheshire Girls’ Ice Hockey Team (Blades) hosted Northwest Catholic/Mercy at the Rinks in Shelton on Jan. 3 at 6:30 p.m.

From the moment they skated onto the ice, the Blades showed their opponents that they were a force to be reckoned with.

Tess Csejka (Amity #2) had three goals and two assists for the Blades, followed by Megan Spring (#23) with two goals.

First Period

Csejka made the first goal of the game assisted by Melissa Montesi (#25) at 1:16 in the first period.

Second Period

The Blades continued to batter their opponents. Early on, Megan Spring made an unassisted goal at 12:20. Next, Meghan Hogan (#22) made her own unassisted goal at 8:34 and about 1.5 minutes later at 7:04, Cally Dixon (#17) smacked one in, assisted by Csejka and Montesi.

Third Period

Just seconds into the final period, Tess Csejka made an unassisted goal, bringing the score to 5-0.

At 11:42, Nadia DiNatale (#11) made a goal assisted by Olivia Dittmann (#21) and Meghan Hogan (#22). Then, three minutes later, Shannon Reilly (#24) from Andrea DelVecchio (#3, Amity).

At 5:36, Tess Csejka (#2) scored her third goal on an assist from fellow Amity player Grace Kosh (#20), and with just 16 seconds left on the clock, Megan Spring made her second unassisted goal, wrapping up this nice 9-0 victory for the Blades.
