Police Blotter Logo thx DaveOrange police responded to the Kohl’s store, 250 Bull Hill Lane, on a shoplifting complaint Sept. 19 at 11:13 a.m.

Investigation revealed that two men had taken $363.90 worth of electronics from the store without paying.

When officers attempted to stop one of the men outside the Kohl’s store, he jumped into a waiting vehicle which then fled into the City of West Haven. Officers lost sight of the arrestees after they left the parking lot.

While in West Haven, the suspect’s vehicle was involved in a crash, and Orange officers were able to respond to to the accident scene and take them into custody for the shoplifting incident.

 According to the report, the driver, Miguel Colon, 35, of 613 Washington Ave #3, New Haven, was charged with conspiracy to commit sixth-degree larceny, interfering with an officer, driving an unregistered motor vehicle, driving with a suspended license, improper use of a license plate and driving with no insurance.

Colon was held on $10,000 bond for court Oct. 5.

The second man,  Jose Pinto, 38, of 690 Howard Ave, New Haven, was charged with sixth-degree larceny, conspiracy to commit sixth-degree larceny, interfering with an officer and second-degree criminal trover.

Pinto was held on $10,000 bond for court Sept. 23.

A couple of drivers were not paying attention while driving past the Orange Fairgrounds at 2:35 p.m. this afternoon and caused a chain reaction car crash.

Cory Ziman was on the scene as it happened before police arrived.

We have no information regarding injuries.
