Fortunato “Fred” DePonte, 86, of Orange, beloved husband of the late Marie DePonte, passed away peacefully on July 2, 2019. Fred was born on January 22, 1933, in New Haven, CT to the late Luigi and Mary DePonte.

Fred graduated from Notre Dame as valedictorian and went on to graduate from Yale.

He worked as an electrical engineer at Sikorsky and Pitney Bowes, from where he retired. He was an active parishioner at Holy Infant Church and enjoyed taking walks around his neighborhood.

Fred loved his family and enjoyed every moment spent with them. Fred’s family would like to thank the staff at CT Hospice for their kind and compassionate care.

Fred leaves behind his daughters, Cynthia Varrone (Jay), Diane DiMauro (Dennis) and Catherine DePonte; grandchildren, Melissa Varrone, Jessica Varrone DiTroia (Jennifer), Matthew Varrone and Danielle DiMauro; and great-grandson, Gianni Fortunato DiTroia. He was predeceased by his siblings, Madeline Neclerio, Anne Criscuolo, Rose Lombardozzi and Frank DePonte.

Family and friends are invited to call on Sunday, July 7, 2019, from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the CODY-WHITE FUNERAL HOME, 107 Broad St., Milford, CT.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, July 8, 2019, at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Infant Church, 450 Racebrook Rd., Orange, CT. (MEET DIRECTLY AT CHURCH).

Burial will follow at All Saints Cemetery, 700 Middletown Ave., North Haven, CT.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Connecticut Hospice, 100 Double Beach Rd., Branford, CT 06405.

She was born May 14, 1940 in Derby, daughter of the late James & Olive Green Forsyth. She leaves two daughters, Victoria Boxberger of Swan Lake N.Y. and Heidi L. Crute of Orange, son Arthur J. Schultz of Prospect, sister Loreen Williams of Ansonia and 5 grandchildren Sierra, Ryan, Kailynne, Arthur & Abby.

She was predeceased by her sister Lucille Tallberg.

Memorial services will be held on Wednesday, March 25 at 11:00 a.m. at The Jenkins King & Malerba Funeral Home, 12 Franklin St. Ansonia, CT. There are no calling hours.

Interment will follow in Riverside Cemetery in Shelton.

demartinoCharlene Bohan DeMartino, 83, of Orange, passed away December 1, 2013 in Connecticut Hospice.

She is the wife of 62 years of Ralph DeMartino.

Charlene was born in New Haven November 29, 1930 daughter of Evo and Audrey Meckler Rivoli.

She was a graduate of St. Peters School and Commercial High School, Class of 1948.

She was a Supervisor for the former SNET retiring in 1988.

She was an avid reader and enjoyed the theatre, live plays and drama, traveling and playing bingo at the Senior Center.

She is the beloved aunt of Ronald (Kathleen) and Laurie Gambardella.

Visiting hours will be Tuesday from 9:30-10:30am and her funeral will leave from the Iovanne Funeral Home Inc. 11 Wooster Place Tuesday morning at 10:30.

Mass of Christian Burial in Holy Infant Church, 450 Racebrook Road at 11:15. Entombment in St. Lawrence Mausoleum.

1005Dorothy R. Suech Smith, 86, formerly of Orange and Branford, passed away Friday, June 7, 2013 at the CT Hospice, Branford.

She was the wife of the late George S. Smith. She was born in Norwalk on October 18, 1926; daughter of the late Albert and Theresa Kopsco Suech and had worked at the Racebrook Pharmacy until her retirement.

Dorothy was a real people person who loved to entertain at her house and also touched many people in a special way.

Mother of Katherine (Richard) Berluti of Old Saybrook, Timothy (Margie) Smith of Orange, David (Cindy) Smith of South Lake, Tahoe and the late Robert G. Smith. Mother-in-law of Joyce C. Smith of Northford.

Also survived by twelve grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Predeceased by her siblings, Albert & Mary Suech and Irene Vizi.

Family and friends are invited to go directly to St. Barnabas Church, 44 Washington Avenue, North Haven on Tuesday morning at 11:00 to attend a mass of Christian Burial and are also invited to attend the committal services immediately following in All Saints Cemetery.

There will be no visiting hours.
