There are many different events to keep you busy during the month of September. Here are the calendar listings, broken down by day for your convenience.

Friday, Sept. 1 – Monday, Sept. 4

Odyssey 2017 the 37th Annual Greek Festival! located at the St. Barbara’s Church grounds at 480 Racebrook Road, Orange on Labor Day Weekend.

The festival is open, Fri, Sat and Sun (Sept. 1, 2 and 3) from 12-10 p.m. and Monday, Sept. 4 from 12-7 p.m.

Events go on Rain or Shine. Admission is free.

Wednesday, Sept. 6

The Orange Players will host open auditions for its upcoming winter production of Acting Up! 2017 at the High Plains Community Center, 525 Orange Center Road, on Wednesday, Sept. 6 and Thursday, Sept. 7 from 7 to 9:15 p.m.

Thursday, Sept. 7

Orange Farmers’ Market and Free Concert at the Orange Fairgrounds, 525 Orange Center Road.

The Farmers’ Market takes place at the Pavilion from 3:30 – 7 p.m. and at 6:30 p.m., the final Free Summer Concert, Frantic City—80’s, 90’s and today, will perform at the gazebo. Rain date Sept 28

Orange Players Auditions

The Orange Players will host open auditions for its upcoming winter production of Acting Up! 2017 at the High Plains Community Center, 525 Orange Center Road, on Thursday, Sept. 7 from 7 to 9:15 p.m.

Friday, Sept. 8

The Orange Economic Development Corporation will host its 11th Annual Golf Tournament, on Friday, September 8, 2017, at Orange Hills Country Club, 389 Racebrook Road, Orange.

This year the OEDC will partner with Rotary and donate a portion of proceeds to Rotary Club of Orange Youth Services Program.

Check-in begins at 11 a.m. at the clubhouse.

Tournament price is $175 per golfer.

Shabbat Service

Join Congregation Or Shalom of Orange for its annual outdoor Friday night Shabbat Service under the Gazebo at the Orange Fairgrounds, Friday, September 8 at 7 p.m.

Rabbi Alvin Wainhaus will bring his guitar and lead everyone in a joyful “sing-along” service.

All are welcome.

Saturday, Sept. 9

The Jamie Hulley Evening For The Arts Gala takes place on Saturday, September 9, 2017, at Fairfield University’s Regina A. Quick Center for the Arts.

The performance begins at 7 p.m. and is preceded by an Evening for the Arts reception at 6 p.m., which includes complimentary wine and beer, a dessert bar and silent and live auctions.

Friday, Sept. 15

The 16th Annual Orange Senior Health and Safety Fair will take place at the High Plains Community Center Gym, 525 Orange Center Road, Friday, September 15, from 9:30 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Admission is free.

Saturday, September 16

The Orange Country Fair takes place on the Orange Fairgrounds, 525 Orange Center Road from 8:00 a.m. –  7:00 p.m. Free Parking  –  Free Shuttle
Admission is $8.00 Adults, $5.00 Senior Citizens, Children 15 and under Free. Active Military Admission $5.00 w/ID

Sunday, September 17

The Orange Country Fair takes place on the Orange Fairgrounds, 525 Orange Center Road from 8:00 a.m. –  7:00 p.m. Free Parking  –  Free Shuttle
Admission is $8.00 Adults, $5.00 Senior Citizens, Children 15 and under Free. Active Military Admission $5.00 w/ID

The market runs from 3:30 p.m. to 7 p.m.

six 2 midnightOrange Community Services will host an outdoor, all ages concerts at the Gazebo  on the Orange Fairgrounds, 525 Orange Center Road, Thursday, July 14.

Amity’s own Six 2 Midnight will perform from 6:30 – 8:30 p.m. (Rain date is Thursday July 21.)

So bring your family and your friends! Since its free, bring your friend’s family!

Forecasters predict 59% Humidity, so remember, hydrate, hydrate, hydrate and bring a personal battery operated fan if you have one.

4th july concertThe Town of Orange may be small in population, but it now has the reputation for bringing in internationally renowned bands and one of the most spectacular fireworks displays in the New Haven County.

“Queen Flash” a 6-member Queen tribute band from Montreal, Canada, will perform prior to the town’s Annual Independence Day Fireworks Spectacular.  The band will feature Special Guest vocalist Phil Naro. The internationally renowned Naro, will lead the group with 2 hours of Queen’s greatest hits including, “Bohemian Rhapsody,” “Crazy Little Thing Called Love,” “Another One Bites the Dust,” “Under Pressure,” and “We are the Champions.” 

This fabulous Queen tribute is an exciting, high energy show that will get people out of their seats. For more information on the band, visit their website at www.queenflash.ca.

The event will take place on Saturday, July 2 (rain date Sunday, July 3) at the Orange Fairgrounds, 525 Orange Center Road.

The festivities will begin promptly at 6:30 p.m. with welcoming comments from Orange First Selectman Jim Zeoli.  The concert will be followed promptly at 9:30 p.m. by the Independence Day Fireworks Spectacular with Patriotic Music.

Event producer Rocky Salperto said, “We are looking forward to another premiere event for area residents to enjoy.  We are excited about producing this show for the fifth consecutive year.  As the crowds keep increasing year to year, (the 2015 event produced a record crowd of more than 8,000) we hope everyone continues to enjoy this great community event. Many thanks go out to our sponsors, our first selectman and town officials for their continued support.”

Come and enjoy a very special free concert with the Shelton division of the United Girls Choir.

If you have ever seen them perform then you know how fabulous they are.

Maria Biondi of the OVNA will provide Coffee and dessert 5:30 – 6 p.m.

The girls will sing from 6 – 7 p.m.

The repertoire will include works by Beethoven, Monti, and Molino.

The concert will take place at the Library of the St. Barbara Greek Orthodox Church, 480 Racebrook Road, Orange, on Sunday, Nov. 24 at 3 p.m.

Admission is free. All are welcome to attend.

The Suzuki Music School Background

The Suzuki Music Schools of Westport & Orange offer instruction in violin, viola, cello, flute, guitar, piano, chamber music, ensemble and music theory. The school follows the teachings of Dr. Shinichi Suzuki, providing a high quality music education that promotes the values of respect, discipline, personal confidence, teamwork and a strong work ethic.
