The Girls’ Hockey Team, a collaborative of Amity-North Haven-Cheshire (ANC Blades) faced off with Guilford at East Haven this week and like their male counterparts played into overtime.
Guilford owned the first period with an unassisted goal by Tessa Mackey at 5:11
Orange resident Mary Kate Martino started out the second period with an unassisted goal at 14:01: and Martino scored again, assisted by Sarah Kalina at 11:24.
Not to be outdone, Guilford’s Cat Rosadini, assisted by Mackenzie Cattaruzza evened the score at 10:57; followed by Nicole Raccuia at 9:47; and Tessa Mackey slapped in her second unassisted goal at 8:58.
Martino brought in another unassisted goal at 1:56; and in the blink of an eye Andrea Noss tied things up at 1:14.
With the score at 4-4 the game went into overtime. There were many tense moments until Martino, assisted by Noss shot the game winning goal at 7:47.
The Blades beat Guilford 5-4.
