IMG_6258We all knew that Saturday’s SCC Championship meet between Amity and Cheshire (#2 & #1 respectively) was going to be tough and only one team could win the title.

And when the two powerhouse teams played at North Haven High School each team played like they meant it, but in the end, it was Cheshire that clinched its fourth consecutive conference title with three wins (25-15, 25-7 and 25-18) over Amity.

This was the third match-up between the Lady Spartans and the Rams this season, with the Rams coming out on top each time.

Amity, under the leadership of first-year coach Seth Davis, had a magnificent run in the regular season, but Cheshire was just “this much” better, winning its seventh consecutive Housatonic Division title and this SCC title.

On Saturday, Amity’s Brianna Mirmina had 12 digs and Nina Luciani had 6 kills.

Our Lady Spartans may not have won the Conference title, but there is still the possibility that they could meet up with Cheshire again in the Class LL semifinals.

According to the SCC website, the second-round states meet will take place at Amity this Thursday, Nov. 6 at 6 p.m.
