Amity Junior Prom Held Tonight In Orange

The Amity High School hosts the 2014 Junior Prom at Grassy Hills Country Club in Orange from 7 – 11 p.m.

When students arrived, they were asked to submit to a passive alcohol sensor (breathalyzer).

The earliest students may leave the prom is 10:30 p.m.

In the past, Amity High School has enjoyed safe and lively junior proms.

School administrators asked for support of the entire community, particularly parent(s)/guardian(s), in helping ensure that the entire evening, before, during and after the prom, is safe and alcohol and drug-free.

Snowfall059The snow began to fall around 2:15 a.m. By 3:30 a.m. we already had about 1/2 inch and the snowplows were running.

The Orange and Amity School closings were announced early – around 9 p.m. Wednesday night and surprisingly there was still bread and milk left in the stores.

What did you do to prepare for this storm?

Did it ruin any February Vacation plans?

How are you going to wait out the storm?

Will you shovel the snow in shifts to make it easier on yourself?

Do your children help clear the snow? Do they play in it? Are they content to stay inside?

Just a reminder, Grassy Hill Country Club is the ultimate sledding and tobogganing place in Orange, but it is private property and the police will be called to kick you out. So, keep that in mind if you’re heading out. A few weeks ago, a 17-year old girl was injured and had to be ‘rescued’ (carried out) by the Orange Volunteer Fire Department.

If you must drive, please be careful, the roads will be slick and there are still some people who don’t know how to drive in this New England weather.

Take care. Build an awesome snowman and make the best of this storm.
