The Amity Girls Swimming and Diving (AGSD) Team celebrated Senior Night on Monday, Oct. 13 with their 43rd consecutive win — this means the girls who’ve been on the team since they came to Amity, have never lost a meet.

Coach Todd Rainey will have to wait until 2015 to hit the landmark 50 wins, but with his coaching skills and the girls’ talent, we believe we will see it happen.

The Lady Spartans go up against Lauralton Hall on Wednesday, Oct. 15 in Orange and away at Cheshire next Monday, Oct. 20 to round out the season.

10568896_818998994785801_4801231508169601358_nLast year, Amity Swimmer (now team captain) Hannah Babbitz and her team raised $10,000 for St. Vincent’s Swim Across The Sound.

This year, Hannah and her teammates have raised the bar and set a goal of $14,000. As of 12:15 p.m. on Thursday, the team had already raised $9,016, but with the event just 4 days away, they still have a ways to go.

This young team consists of 14-17 year old swimmers (Hannah Babbitz, Zachary Babbitz, Madyson Barnick, Skyler Marini, Lydia Pokluda and Jillian Rice) who will swim relay style for the 15.5 mile course from Port Jefferson, LI to Captains Cove, Bridgeport.

All the money raised goes to Local Cancer Patients.

Here’s hoping for nice weather and jellyfish free waters.

Screen shot 2014-06-13 at 7.57.35 PMAmity junior, Hannah Babbitz, is captaining a team again this year to participate in SWIM Across the Sound.

This event is sponsored by St. Vincent’s Medical Center Foundation (in Bridgeport) to raise money for life saving cancer services for patients who would otherwise not be able to pay.

Hannah’s team consists of 6 teens (including her brother Zac Babbitz a freshman at Amity). With the help of the Amity community, last year they raised $10,000. This year they would like to meet or exceed that goal.10455555_813653848653649_718257248_n
