img_9167In November 2013, Orange Live broke the news that Stop & Shop was going to close its doors on Bull Hill Lane and for nearly 3 years residents have had to travel great distances to buy their groceries.

Then, suddenly, the Adams store at the Orange Derby Plaza also closed while Orange residents waited for the new Shop Rite to replace the former Stop & Shop on Bull Hill Lane.

Well, today so many dreams came true. At 8 a.m. “Mr. Shop Rite” Harry Garafalo welcomed customers into the new Orange Shop Rite store. One particular item was flying off the shelves — Big Screen Televisions offered for $99 with a coupon and $25 purchase.

The two employees handling the TV inventory deserve a lot of credit for their professionalism and patience as customers who requested the 42-inch HD TV then changed their minds and asked to switch to the 40-inch Smart TV, and then back again. These young men answered questions, hauled tvs, loaded them into carriages and the whole time remained calm and polite.

During our visit to the store we noted that the parking lot was almost completely full, and inside we saw many familiar faces, from the prepared foods to the deli counter and on to the frozen food section.

Everyone was happy to finally have a hometown grocery store again. They liked the layout, the choices and the prices.

George and Linda Geane, who live on that end of town have been driving to the new Milford Shop Rite since it opened and both said they are so happy that this one is so close to home.

The new, 63,500 sq ft store includes full service florist shop, Fresh seafood, Butcher Shop and Bakery, also a small cafe seating section where customers can enjoy breakfast or lunch from the fresh prepared food area, sushi bar and burrito bar.

If you are fond of the Shop From Home services, the new Shop Rite has that, too.

Enjoy your new Shop Rite Store, Orange, hours are: Sunday 7 a.m. – 10 p.m.; Monday-Saturday 7 a.m. – 11 p.m.
