Orange Post 127 defeated West Haven 10-0 on Wednesday as two pitchers combined to throw a shutout. Teddy Hague induced a groundout to finish off the game.

Adam Hurwitz led Orange to victory by driving in four runs. He went 3-for-4 at the plate. Hurwitz drove in runs with a double in the third and a double in the sixth.

Post 127  captured the lead in the first inning. Al Smith homered on the first pitch at-bat in the first inning, scoring two runs.

Orange scored four runs in the third inning. The big inning was thanks to a double by Hurwitz, a single by Zach Cole and another single.

A single in the first inning was a positive for West Haven.

Jared Smith earned the win for Orange. He threw four innings, surrendering zero runs, six hits, and striking out two. One of West Haven’s pitchers pitched three and one-third innings, surrendering seven runs, seven hits, and striking out one.

Post 127 collected 11 hits. Hurwitz, Smith, and Quentin Pitter each had multiple hits for Orange, and the team didn’t commit a single error in the field.

The Orange Post 127 American Legion Baseball team hosted New Haven for a double header at Brinley Field in Orange Saturday morning/afternoon.

Smith Throws Shutout As Orange Post 127 Defeats New Haven

Jared Smith didn’t allow a single run as Orange Post 127 defeated New Haven 6-0 on Saturday. Smith allowed just five hits and got one batter to hit into a fielder’s choice to end the game.

Jack Nolan led Orange to victory by driving in four runs. He went 3-for-4 at the plate. Nolan drove in runs on a single in the third and a home run in the sixth.

Jake Nolan hit a 2-run homer.

Orange scored three runs in the sixth inning. Post 127 scored its runs on a home run by Nolan.

One bright spot for New Haven was a single in the first inning.

Jared Smith earned the win for Post 127. He tossed seven innings, surrendering zero runs, five hits, striking out four, and walking zero. New Haven’s pitcher took the loss. He threw six innings, surrendering six runs, 11 hits, and striking out three.

Orange had 11 hits in the game. Nolan, Andy Hague, and Teddy Hague each collected multiple hits for the home team.

One player led New Haven with two hits in three at-bats. New Haven didn’t commit a single error in the field. Another player had the most chances in the field with one.

Hague’s Walkoff Gives Orange Post 127 Victory Over New Haven

Orange Post 127 took Saturday’s second game in dramatic fashion, with a 5-4 walk-off victory over New Haven. Orange was down 4-3 in the bottom of the seventh inning when Andy Hague singled and drove in two runs.

New Haven knotted the game up at two in the top of the fifth inning. New Haven scored one run on a wild pitch by Burzynski.

Tyler Appel earned the win for Orange. He went two innings, surrendering two runs, one hit, and striking out three. The opposing team’s pitcher took the loss for New Haven. He threw four innings, allowing three runs, five hits, and striking out two.

Burzynski started the game for Post 127. He threw five innings, surrendering two runs, five hits, striking out two, and walking zero.

Appel and Andy Hague each drove in two runs to lead Orange. Our home team didn’t commit a single error in the field. Burzynski had one chance in the field, the most on the team.

New Haven’s pitcher led his team with two hits in four at-bats.

Post 127’s record for the 2017 season is 4-1, they lost a close game to Stratford 3-1 on the road on Thursday.
