Orange police were dispatched to Kohl’s, 250 Bull Hill Lane on a shoplifting complaint, Aug. 20 at 3:09 p.m.
When officers arrived, they learned that Edna Perry, 49, of 1251 Ella Grasso Boulevard, New Haven, and an accomplice had selected $728 worth of merchandise from the shelves and attempted to leave without paying for any of it.
Store employees were able to retrieve the merchandise.
Officers found Perry in the parking lot where she initially attempted to give a false name, and took her into custody.
The accomplice ran away before police arrived.
Perry was charged with conspiracy to commit sixth-degree larceny and interfering with an officer’s investigation.
She was released on a promise to appear in court Sept. 3.
