The Amity community loves the Amity Girls Varsity Basketball Team.

We appreciate the Lady Spartan’s good sportsmanship, team play, and amazing moves.
We celebrate with them when they win, and share their pain when things don’t go so well.
The girls gave us a memorable regular season, and last night, in East Haven, they went up against the #2 SCC team — Career. They gave it their all until the final buzzer.
Mikaila Schmitt was the high scorer with 19 points; Elise Graham made 17 points; followed by Janae Graham with 9; Chloe Brinton 6; then Molly Ronan and Amanda Vecchio each adding 2 points.
They lost a hard fought battle 65-55.
Parent Derek Graham, who has not missed seeing his two daughters play yet this season, said, “We played a very good Career team which will prepare us for the State Tournament coming up next Monday.”
The Lady Spartans may not have won the division title, but the State is still available.

The Spartans played hard, but had their helmets handed to them in an SCC Division I game at West Haven.

The most impressive play for Amity was a touchdown with one second left on the clock which put the Spartans on the scoreboard.

David Attolino, David Buono and Joey Choiniere each scored for the Spartans. Choiniere also blocked a punt.

Fighting back the cold and the trash talk from the opposing team, the Spartans lost this game 47-24.

Keep your eyes open for Phil Brodsky’s real coverage of this game — he doesn’t insert his opinion.
