DUI and Possession of Hallucinogenics
Officers responded to the scene of a one-car accident in front of the Taco Bell restaurant on the Boston Post Road Nov. 30 at 6:11 p.m.
According to the report, the driver, Shamont Payne, 41, of 84 Cherry Ann St., New Haven, ran down several mailboxes of area businesses.
During the investigation, officers interviewed Payne, who reportedly admitted to drinking and using drugs earlier in the evening.
He was taken into custody and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs (DUI), possession of a hallucinogenic substance, failure to drive in a proper lane and failure to maintain insurance.
Payne was released after posting $400 for court Dec. 16.
Marijuana and Drug Paraphernalia
Patrol officers stopped at the Valero Gas Station, 347 Boston Post Road on Nov. 29 at 11:04 p.m. after observing the driver, a 22-year-old Orange resident, lighting and inhaling something from a glass pipe.
During the investigation, officers talked to the driver and learned he was smoking marijuana.
Police seized the pipe and drugs, charged him with possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of less than 1/2 ounce of marijuana.
The man was issued an infraction ticket for his actions.
NOTE: Orange Live did not publish the offenders name due to the fact that he received an infraction ticket and technically was not arrested — a fall back on lessons I learned while working for another news publisher. By no means does this reflect what other publications will do with the information they receive from the Orange Police Department.
