Two people have been arrested in connection with a road rage incident in Orange on Friday, June 26.
State police responded to I-95 Northbound near Exit 41 (Marsh Hill Road) around 9 p.m. on Friday on a report that a car driver was slashed with something, and a tractor trailer driver had been shot.
According to police, something occurred between the two drivers near exit 40 in Milford. Juan Calderon, 33, of Orange pulled his car off the highway at exit 41, while he waited at the light, the truck driver, identified as Jesus Izaguirre, 39, of Hidalgo, TX pulled over on I-95, got out of the truck and ran up the embankment to the car, hit the vehicle with an object and then cut Calderon’s face.
As Izaguirre, retreated to his truck, Calderone chased him, and fired a registered 9mm semi-automatic pistol, shooting the truck driver several times, according to police.
Izaguirre got into his truck and fled Northbound on I-95, stopping near exit 44 where state police caught up with him.
Police said both men were transported to Yale-New Haven Hospital and treated for non-life threatening injuries.
Major Crime Detectives took over the investigation.
Izaguirre was released from the hospital on Sunday and troopers charged him with first-degree criminal attempt of assault, second-degree assault, and first degree reckless endangerment.
Izaguirre is being held on $500,000 bond and expected in Milford Superior Court Monday.
Calderon turned himself in to police on Sunday. He is charged with criminal attempt to commit murder, first-degree reckless endangerment, first-degree assault, and unlawful discharge of a firearm.
He is being held on a $250,000 bond and is expected in Milford Superior Court on Monday.
