IMG_6049Orange Post 127’s Doug Rives (22) pitched eight innings, but providing enough offense to notch a victory proved difficult Saturday, as Orange Post 127 fell to Hamden 2-1 in this post season game at Brinley Field.

Mitchell got the win for Hamden. He allowed one run over eight innings. He struck out 12, walked three and surrendered five hits.

Rives ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with the loss.

Hamden closer Rodriguez put away the final three outs to record the save.

The game was never in doubt after the third, as Hamden scored one run on.

In the fifth inning, Orange Post 127 pushed across its only run of the day on an RBI single by Lou DeGennero (3).

IMG_1182The Amity Varsity Baseball team is 7-3 for the season and their victory on Monday against Cheshire (6-4) shows just how mighty they are.

The three losses were close games: 1-2 Sheehan; 1-4 Fairfield Prep and 1-4 today against Shelton.

But a couple of the victories were mind blowing: Lasting 11 grueling innings with Xavier and winning 1-0; stepping all over East Haven 21-2; and Monday’s 16-1 win against Cheshire.

The Spartans simply dominated this game. No one scored in the first, fourth or fifth innings but Amity showed Cheshire how the game is played with six runs in the second inning, 7 in the third and 3 in the sixth.

Cheshire didn’t score until the sixth inning with Thomas Savino’s RBI.

Notable Players:
