IMG_0501The Amity Spartans Boys Lacrosse Team hosted the Branford Hornets in Woodbridge today.
The home team took an early lead in the first quarter (2-1), but Branford pulled ahead with 2 goals in the second (3-2).
Amity tied things up in the third quarter (3-3) and each team scored 1 goal in the fourth (4-4) forcing the game into overtime.
Both teams battled for the win, but in the end the Spartans were stung by the Hornets when the visitors scored 1 final goal, taking a 5-4 victory.

Amity: Mike Cavanagh hit in 2 goals, Mark DellaTorre 1 goal and 1 assist, Adam Cusano 1 goal, Sam King had 1 assist.
Branford: Brian Nichols made 2 goals, Robert Lionetti, John Duffy, and Bradley Valalik each made 1 goal.
Branford outshot Amity 42 – 21
Amity goalie Matt Perrotti made 14 saves; Zach Degoursey made 10 saves for Branford.
Records: Amity 4-6; Branford 5-6.

The Amity Boys Lacrosse Team welcomed The William Hall Warriors from West Hartford to Woodbridge for a competitive game on Monday.

The Spartans were “on” leading in the first quarter 2-1.  The Warriors tied things up in the second quarter 3-3, then Amity lit it up scoring 5 more goals in the third, which was enough to put them over the top and both teams scored 2 goals in the final quarter.

Amity won their fourth game of the season — 10-5.

Hall    1-2-0-2 = 5
Anthony Uscilla was the game’s high scoring player with 3 goals and 1 assist. Ryan Rattley made 2 goals. Mike Cavanagh made 1 goal and had 2 assists, and Adam Cusano, Tyler Vincent, James Cofrancesco, and Sam King each made 1 goal.
Rounding things out, Ian MacDonald had 3 assists and Mark DellaTorre had 1 assist.
Hall’s  Spencer Witter made 2 goals, and Kevin Carr, Chris Monnes, and Griffin Smith each made 1 goal.
Amity Outshot Hall 39-21
Goalkeeper Matt Perrotti made 10 saves for the Spartans; Harrison Newman made 16 saves for the Warriors.

The Indians stayed ahead of the Spartans from the first quarter to the last.

Guilford 3-2-3-3 = 11
Players’ performances: 
Amity: Mike Cavanagh made 4 goals and had 1 assist, Ryan Rattley made 2 goals, Anthony Uscilla made 1 goal and 1 assist, Sam King and Tyler Vincent each had 1 assist.
Guilford: Will Dacey made 4 goals, Robbie LoRicco made 4 goals and had 2 assists, John Delucia made 2 goals, Ben Levy made 1 goal and had 2 assists, Stephen Page and Sam Jankura each had 1 assist.
Guilford outshot Amity 33-28.
Amity goaltender Matt Perrotti made 15 saves; Guilford’s James Bright made 8 saves.
Records: Amity 2-3, Guilford 4-1
The Spartans (2-3) will host Fairfield Prep (4-2) on Thursday at 4 p.m.

The Tigers took a quick lead and didn’t look back.
