Eight days ago, on Aug. 23, a male beagle was found in the Pez parking lot in Orange.

He was brought to the Milford Animal Control, attracted a lot of attention on our Facebook page, and has since been advertised by the shelter, yet he has not been claimed.

The poor fellow is said to have a nice personality, but he must be quite sad and lonely without a family.

The shelter is no place for a sweetheart like this who should be living out his days with some constant love and attention.

The Milford Animal Control is at 664 East Broadway in Milford. If you’re interested in him, stop by or call 203-783-3279. Fill out an application and give him a loving home.

The Orange Conservation Commission announces once again the Animal Control Officer from Milford Animal Control will be stepped-up enforcement activity in Orange’s Open Spaces.

Cindy Ruggeri, Chairperson of the Orange Conservation Commission, wants to remind the public using Orange’s Open spaces that there are Local Ordinances requiring that owners of dogs must have their animals leashed and that solid waste left by their dog must be removed by the owner.

“There are an increasing number instances in our Open Spaces where unleashed dogs are running loose and frightening other users,” Ruggeri said. “This combined with owners failing to clean up after their dogs is detrimental to other people trying to enjoy our beautiful open spaces.”

The stepped-up enforcement activity will include random visits to Orange’s Open Spaces (Wepawaug Conservation Area, Ewen Farm Preserve, Turkey Hill Preserve, Wright’s Pond/Wepawaug Bend, Racebrook Tract, Fred Wolfe Park and Housatonic Overlook and Tucker’s Ridge) by the Animal Control Officer from Milford.

The Officer will cite anyone who violates the Local Ordinances. Such violators “shall be subject to arrest and prosecution and may be fined an amount not to exceed $100 for each violation.”

Users of the Orange Open Spaces are asked to call the Animal Control Officer at 203-783- 3279 to report dogs off-leash or owners failing to clean up after their dogs.

It is hoped that with the Public’s help and increased enforcement, the Open Spaces will once again be enjoyable places to hike for all users.

golden girlThe Orange Police tonight retrieved a lovely, sweet, young female Golden in the Dogwood/Dogburn area.

She had no tags or ID so, after spending about an hour in Police Headquarters, the Milford-Orange Animal Control stopped by to get her.

If you are missing her, call the Animal Control, 664 E Broadway, Milford,  at 203-783-3279 between 9:00 am – 5:00 pm

P.S. I fell in love with her immediately. The Sergeant called her “Snowball.” She is an awesome pup.
