Orange police observed a vehicle driving erratically on the Boston Post Road on Sunday, Oct. 28, at 10:38 p.m.  

When officers stopped the car, they reportedly detected a strong smell of marijuana emanating from the vehicle and saw a leafy substance in the vehicle. 

As a result, police searched the driver and car, which yielded multiple narcotics and controlled substances.  Subsequently, Erick A. Mead, 23, of West Haven was taken into custody and charged with possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell, possession of a narcotic with intent to sell and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Mead was held on a $20,000 surety bond which he posted on Oct. 29. He was given a court date of Nov. 13.

Orange police made a motor vehicle stop in front of 528 Boston Post Road on Saturday, Oct. 6 at 7: 51 p.m. for failure to display marker plates.

During the stop, officers learned that the driver, Brittany Tomling, 31, of New Haven was driving with a suspended license. Further investigation revealed that Tomling had an active hard copy warrant out of the City of New Haven and an active PRAWN warrant out of the Connecticut State Police.

She was taken into custody and charged with criminal impersonation and interfering with a police officer.

Tomling received a promise to appear in court on Oct. 18, and she was released to New Haven Police Department on an active outstanding warrant out of that city.

Orange Police responded to a complaint of a shoplifting in progress at the Target store, 25 Boston Post Road on July 17 at 2:30 p.m.

During the investigation, officers learned that Wendy Shaw, 36, of New Haven allegedly had attempted to take $733.69 worth of merchandise without paying for it.

Shaw was taken into custody and charged with fifth-degree larceny and possession of less than a half an ounce of marijuana.

She was held on $500 non-surety bond for court July 18.
