Born in Bridgeport on May 8, 1944, she was a daughter of the late Leonard and Eleanor Varnelli Serritella. She was a longtime resident of Huntington before moving to Milford.
Mary Lou was a graduate of Lauralton Hall and attended the University of Bridgeport. She was very proud of the work she did at Mercy Learning Center in Bridgeport, where she taught computer skills to low-income women for more than ten years. She also enjoyed gardening and spending time at the beach and was a true animal lover.
She adored her grandchildren and was always there for her family and friends, as well as anyone ever in need.
Survivors include her two devoted children, David Sewell and his wife Alexandra of Larchmont, NY and Kerry Wetmore and her husband Christopher of Orange, five beloved grandchildren, Anna and John Sewell, Grace, John and Molly Wetmore, her former spouse, William Sewell of Milford and a cherished nephew, Justin Frazier, his wife Melissa and their children Nathaniel and Jude of Ventura, California, as well her partner, Thomas Crenwick of Shelton.
She was predeceased by her beloved sister, Lenore Daninhirsch.
Relatives and friends may greet the family on Wednesday from 4-8 p.m. in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull.
Funeral services will take place on Thursday, July 6, 2017 at 9:00 a.m. in the funeral home, and at 10:00 a.m. in St. Lawrence Church, Shelton for a Mass of Christian Burial.
Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Mercy Learning Center, 637 Park Ave, Bridgeport, CT 06604.
