The annual budget for the Town of Orange FY 2018/ 2019 passed on May 23 thereby setting the 2017 Grand List Mill Rate at 32 mills for Real Estate, Personal Property, and Motor Vehicles.

Tax bills are scheduled to be mailed the last week in June, with the first installment due July 1, 2018. The final day to pay without interest or penalty will be August 1, 2018.

Please keep in mind that payments will not be accepted or processed until July 2, 2018. The Office of Policy and Management (OPM) has indicated that outside the provision of 12‐163 (Jeopardy) of the Ct. State Statute, tax collectors are NOT authorized to accept early payments.

To ensure immediate and proper posting your installment coupon is necessary. If you want a receipt, bring the entire three-part tax bill. Payments by mail require a self-addressed stamped envelope along with the entire three-part tax bill.
Tax bills may be paid online, on the Town of Orange website; there is a fee associated.

Motor vehicle clearance will take 11 days. For 24 hr. clearance delinquent tax bills must be paid in cash in the office between 8:30 a.m. – 3: 30 p.m.

The 2017 Grand List information will not be available for viewing until July 1.

The Tax Office will close at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, June 29, so that the 2016 Grand List can be balanced and closed.

We will have no computer access during this time. The 2017 Grand List information will be loaded and we will begin accepting and processing payments on July 2, 2018.

Screen Shot 2016-01-28 at 12.20.45 PMSandra Pierson, CCMC Tax Collector for the Town of Orange would like to announce that the tax office will be set up to process online tax payments by credit card, debit card or e-checks beginning February 16, 2016.

Tax bill numbers must be included to define where the payment is to be applied.

Tax information is public information. The Town of Orange’s goal is to provide this information to taxpayers and their agents in order to facilitate timely tax payments.

Along with online viewing this service is available so that taxpayers can easily inquire and pay Real Estate, Personal Property and Motor Vehicle tax bills that are due, print a duplicate record from your computer and review any payments that have been made on accounts.

The data base is updated on a daily basis so you can quickly and easily make online tax payments. Tax payments do not show until they are processed. If you are seeking a definitive answer as to what or how much you owe, there is no substitute for speaking one on one with a tax collector’s office employee.

First Selectman Jim Zeoli said, “I have been working on making online bill pay for taxes a reality for 6 1/2 years. There were several hurdles to overcome, technology that could handle it was the biggest. I think that in this day and age it is something that taxpayers desire even with a fee for using it.”

He added that the Orange tax payment system is similar to the U.I. or the Regional Water Authority pay online programs.

Credit/ debit card payments are NOT accepted in the tax office or by telephone. Everything must be done through Point & Pay. Go to the Town of Orange web-site, tax collector and click on the link.

Please note there is a fee for this service, the link will advise you of the amount prior to submitting your transaction.

Visit the Tax Collector’s website on February 16 for complete information.
