There are certain times of year when blood banks see a shortage in inventory and the only way to replenish the supply is through the generosity of donors. Currently, there is an emergency need for all types of blood.

On Wednesday, July 25, Congregation Or Shalom, 205 Old Grassy Hill Road, will host a Red Cross Blood Drive from 9 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.

There are requirements one must follow for donating blood:
  • Donation frequency: Every 56 days*
  • You must be in good health and feeling well**
  • You must be at least 16 years old in most states
  • You must weigh at least 110 lbs

The American Red Cross is hosting a blood drive at Holy Infant Church, 450 Racebrook Road, Wednesday, Nov. 20, 1:30 to 6:30 p.m.

Won’t you consider donating a pint? You could help save up to 3 lives.

blood_driveThe Spring Blood Drive will be held on Friday, June 7 from 6 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the main gym.

The Red Cross has an urgent need for donors.  If any parents or members of the community wish to donate, e-mail Jim Clifford at james.clifford@reg5.k12.ct.us to make an appointment.

In accordance with Red Cross rules and Connecticut law, students who are at least 17-years-old and meet the weight requirements may donate without a parent permission slips.  If any parent does not wish their child to donate, they should inform their child accordingly.
