This Friday, August 31, The Or Shalom Social Action Committee will present the Warren Weiswasser Social Action Fund Scholarship to Taylor Gourdier.

Come to Shabbat services at the Orange Town Gazebo at 7 p.m. when Taylor Gourdier will receive the Scholarship.

Taylor is being honored because of her very strong involvement with social action activities since childhood, including raising money for “The Smile Train” by selling flowers and selling hot cocoa for victims of the earthquake in Haiti.

Taylor also created a group called “The Caroling Kids,” that sang at local nursing homes for four years during holiday time, and she performed on the piano at nursing homes for three years.

Taylor’s more recent social action activities include being a dance mentor for children and teens with special needs, acting as a liaison between the Or Shalom Social Action Committee and the Or Shalom Hebrew School, and volunteering at Relay for Life to raise money for the fight against cancer.
