The 2017-18 school year has begun and that means Sports!

Tuesday, August 29

V Boys Soccer v. Trumbull (Scrim.) Away – The Pit  4:00 p.m.

A meeting for all Fall Captains and Captain’s Parents will take place in the Lecture Hall on Tuesday, August 29 at 6 p.m.

Thursday, August 31

V Girls Soccer v. Guilford (Scrim.) Away – Cox School Field – Guilford 3:45 p.m.

Friday, September 1

V Girls Volleyball v. Newtown (Scrim.) Away 3:30 p.m.

Saturday, September 2

V Boys Soccer Jamboree  Home – Amity High School  9:00 a.m.

V Field Hockey v. New Fairfield (Scrim.) Away  8:30 a.m.

V Girls Soccer Shelton Jamboree  Away – Shelton High School  9:00 a.m.

img_0581The Amity Girls Swimming and Dive Team (10-2) will participate in the SCC Qualifier in Cheshire on Tuesday, Nov. 1 at 5 p.m.

Later this week, on Thursday, Nov. 3, the Lady Spartans no doubt will compete in the SCC Championship Meet at Southern CT State University at 6 p.m.

Also on Tuesday, Nov. 1, the Girls Volleyball Team (17-1) will play Foran (10-10) in the SCC Quarter Final in Woodbridge at 6:30 p.m.

img_1377As previously reported on Orange Live, the Amity Varsity Girls Soccer Team (10-3-2) will compete in the SCC Semi-Final game in Cheshire on Tuesday, Nov. 1 at 6 p.m.

The Lady Spartans had one loss 1-4 and one victory 4-3 against Cheshire during the regular season.

Good luck and continued success to all our fabulous female athletes.

The undefeated Amity Spartans Soccer Team came on  strong in their last two away games.

Amity vs Cheshire

On Saturday, Sept. 21, they were in Cheshire for an SCC Housatonic Division game.

In the first half the score was 0-0, but in the second half Evan Donahue (19) put the Spartans on the scoreboard with a goal at 39:04.

After much back and forth, captain Dean Schwartz (10), a junior got the ball in past Cheshire keeper Matt Skydel with 4:09 left in the game.

Amity outshot Cheshire 2-1

Saves: Amity’s Griffin Volta had 1; Cheshire’s Skydel had 2.

On Saturday the season records were: Amity 4-0; Cheshire 0-3-1

 

Amity vs Foran

On Monday, Sept. 23, the Spartans were in Milford on Foran High School turf.

Again, the first half left both teams scoreless, but in the second half, Amity’s captain, Justyn Broderick (4) fired the ball into the net at 49:00.

Amity outshot Foran 12-8.

Foran’s Goalkeeper Tim Orozco’s skill kept the score down by making 6 saves at the net. Amity’s Griffin Volta had 2 saves.

622183-soccer-ball-on-grassThe 2013-14 school year has not yet begun, but the the Connecticut Interscholastic Athletic Conference (CIAC) already is adjusting the schedule for fall sports.

The following changes have been made to the field hockey and boys soccer games.

September

The Sept. 10 home Field Hockey game between Amity and Mercy has been changed from 3:45 to 4 p.m.

The Sept. 12 home Field Hockey game between Hamden and Amity also has been changed from 3:45 to 4 p.m.

October

The Oct. 8 Field Hockey game between Mercy and Amity V Field Hockey game at Mercy has been changed from 3:45 to 4:15 p.m.

The Oct. 15 Boys Soccer game at Lyman Hall has been changed from 3:45 to 6:30 p.m. and from Lyman Hall Field #1 to Lyman Hall Fitzgerald Field

On Oct. 21, the home Field Hockey game between North Haven and Amity will take place at 4 p.m. instead of 3:45 p.m.

The Oct. 18 home Field Hockey game against Lyman Hall has been changed from 3:45 to 4 p.m.

Amity hosted Sheehan for some non-stop soccer action on Wednesday, Oct. 3.

Senior Ian O’Brien-Cannon (21) scored the only goal for the Spartans in the SCC Housatonic Division game against Sheehan at Amity.

Sophomore Jeremy Conn (5) had an assist and Junior Griffin Volta (1) made nine saves in goal for Amity (7-1, 2-1).

Amity won 1-0.

The Spartans will host Jonathan Law on Friday at 3:45 p.m.

Fall Sports Has Arrived!

Are you ready for the Amity Fall Sports Season? There are plenty of scrimmage games to give you a preview of this year’s teams right on the home fields at Amity High School.

Today, Friday, Sept. 7:
• The varsity football team will take on Bloomfield at 6 p.m.
• The Varsity Girls Volleyball team faces Lauralton Hall at 3:30 p.m.
• The JV Girls Volleyball team will play Lauralton Hall at 3:30 p.m.

Tomorrow, Saturday, Sept. 8:
• The varsity Boys Soccer Team will have an Amity scrimmage game on Field #3 at 10 a.m.

Regular games begin on Sept. 11. Stay tuned for Phil Brodsky’s sports coverage.
