A large crowd gathered at St. Barbara Greek Church Hall on Friday night for the Orange Lions Club’s Spring Tasting fundraiser.

The Wine and Liquor Outlet,528 Boston Post Road, provided fine wines, craft beers and bourbon for the event.

This spring wine tasting included hors d’oeuvres, desserts and raffles.

Proceeds benefit local Orange Lions charities.

running-in-high-heelsThe Women’s Republican Club of Orange cordially invites you to a “Running in High Heels” Luncheon honoring the women who make a difference in our State and local government.

Join them at St. Barbara’s Church Social Hall, 480 Racebrook Road on Saturday, April 16, 11:30 a.m.

House Republican Minority Leader Themis Klarides is the Key Note Speaker.

The luncheon will be catered by Chefs a l’Orange and feature a choice of Chicken Tarragon Crepe, Seafood Newberg Crepe or a Mushroom, Spinach and Cheese crepe with hors d’oeuvres, salad, vegetable, rice pilaf, Sangria punch, dessert and coffee. The cost is $40.00 per person.

They will be hosting their traditional door prize event and invite you to bring along a prize to donate.

ASD Fitness CenterMartha Leary, CCC-SLP will be the Keynote Speaker at a Wine & Craft Beer Tasting in support of the Bethany Leapley Autism Spectrum Disorder Scholarship Fund at St. Barbara’s Church Hall, 480 Racebrook Road, on Saturday, Feb. 28, beginning at 7 p.m.

Leary has learned from people with autism, their supporters and families for nearly 40 years. She has lectured extensively in the United States, Canada, Ireland, Australia and England.

The Guest Speaker is Dr. Ruth Eren. Ed. D., Professor of Special Education / Chairman of the Department of Special Education / Reading Director at the Center of Excellence on ASD Disorders at Southern Connecticut State University.

WTNH News Anchor Jim Watkins will DJ-Emcee the event.

Tickets are $125 per person, $800 for a table of eight, $1,000 for a table of ten.

Research has proven that exercise is beneficial to those with ASD, however not everyone affected has the ability to afford the expense of supervised training and is in need of financial assistance.

The ASD Fitness Center is located at 307 Racebrook Rd, Orange.

All funds collected will be used to award scholarships to those in need to attend the ASD Fitness Center — A facility specifically designed to provide a safe, comfortable and structured environment for empowering individuals with ASD to improve their level of physical fitness.

In addition to tickets, there are other ways to support the Scholarship Fund.  Donations for the silent auction are welcomed and there are four levels of sponsorship available:   Platinum $5000 (Full page program ad, table of 10, banner identification, and website & social media identification);  Gold  $3000 (Half Page program ad, table of 10, banner identification, and website & social media identification);  Silver  $1500 (Quarter page ad, table of 8, banner identification, and website & social media identification);  and Bronze $500 (Quarter page ad, banner identification, and website & social media identification).
