On Thursday, August 23 at 4:12 p.m., Orange Police responded to a motor vehicle accident on Route 34 in the area between Racebrook and Orange Center roads.

According to the report, the Derby Police Department attempted to stop a stolen vehicle in their town, but the vehicle did not stop. Derby officers continued behind the vehicle into Orange, where the vehicle became involved in a number of collisions with other motorists.

It appears that at least six vehicles were involved in the collision, with four suffering disabling damage. No police vehicles were involved in any collision.

Several people were transported to local hospitals with non-life threatening injuries.

The driver of the stolen vehicle was taken into custody. Three passengers fled the scene and were taken into custody shortly thereafter as a result of the Derby, Woodbridge, Orange, Milford, East Haven, and West Haven Police Departments working together. The Orange Volunteer Fire Department also was on scene making it safe for officers and the traveling public.

All suspects appear to be juveniles; no information can be released regarding their identities at this time.

During the investigation, officers learned that Mike Baldino, 19, of Orange had taken a vehicle from a family member without permission.

While it was in his possession, the car broke down and Baldino abandoned it. Officers convinced him to surrender himself to police, which he did.

Baldino was charged with third-degree larceny and held on $5,000 bond for court Sept. 16.

screen-shot-2016-09-21-at-8-54-28-pmOfficers patrolling on the Boston Post Road at 4:26 am. on Sept. 10 observed a vehicle drive into the rear lot of a business that was closed overnight.

Investigation revealed that the vehicle was listed as stolen.

Officers stopped the vehicle and took the driver, Wayne Jones, 18, of Bridgeport into custody and the vehicle was seized to be returned to the owner.

Jones was charged with third-degree larceny by possession and possession of less than four ounces of marijuana.

He was released after posting $5,000 bond for court Sept. 23.

Luckily for the owner, the car was equipped with Onstar and it was located a short time later.

Police responded to a complaint of a stolen vehicle on June 15 at 8:58 a.m.

According to the report, during the investigation, officers learned that Jason Fraser, 30, of 1030 Fernbrook Road had taken a vehicle belonging to a family member without asking/telling anyone.

When he returned with the vehicle a short time later, he was taken into custody and charged, and the vehicle was returned to its owners.

Fraser was charged with using a motor vehicle without permission. He was released after posting $5,000 bond for court June 30.

 

Warrant Arrest

While on patrol on Derby Avenue, Orange police officers observed a vehicle being driven by Jessica Ruzkowski, 28, of 803 Grassy Hill Road, who was wanted on a warrant.

Officers stopped the car and took Ruzkowski into custody.

During the investigation drug paraphernalia was found in the vehicle and seized.

The warrant was for driving with a suspended license. She was served the warrant and additionally charged with another cound of driving with a suspended license and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Ruzkowski was held on $500 bond for court June 20.
