For this year’s Independence Day Concert, the Orange Town News, which is once again producing the event, is presenting “Strange Magic – The ELO Experience” to perform prior to the town’s Annual Independence Day Fireworks Spectacular.  Strange Magic is a tribute to the Electric Light Orchestra which features cellos and intricate vocal arrangements. The group performs note-perfect renditions of all the ELO classics. Concert-goers can expect to hear all their favorites such as “Living Thing,” “Evil Woman,” “Don’t Bring Me Down,” “Ma Ma Belle,” “Strange Magic,” “Telephone Line,”“Can’t Get it Out of My Head,” “Sweet Talkin’ Woman,” “Turn to Stone,” and “Shine a Little Love.” The nine members of “Strange Magic,” who are making their CT debut, hail from Toronto, Canada. The band will feature internationally renowned lead vocalist Phil Naro.

In addition, “Strange Magic” has been chosen to appear on national television on “THE WORLD’S GREATEST TRIBUTE BANDS” show on AXS TV! They will be appearing live in concert from the legendary “Whisky a Go Go” in Hollywood California (two days before ELO is inducted into the Rock N ‘Roll Hall of Fame).

The Independence Day Concert will take place on Sunday, July 2 (rain date Monday, July 3rd) at the Orange Fairgrounds, 525 Orange Center Road, Orange.

The festivities will begin promptly at 6:30 pm with welcoming comments from Orange First Selectman Jim Zeoli.  The concert will be followed promptly at 9:30 pm by the Independence Day Fireworks Spectacular with Patriotic Music.

Orange Town News publisher and event producer Rocky Salperto said, “We are looking forward to another premiere event for area residents to enjoy.  We are excited about producing this show for the sixth consecutive year.  We hope everyone continues to enjoy this great community event. Many thanks go out to our sponsors, our first selectman and town officials for their continued support.”

Food vendors and novelty items will be available for purchase at the fairgrounds beginning at 6:00 p.m.  WPLR Radio also will be on location with a celebrity guest.  Come early and get a good seat.  Admission is free.

The weather is forecast to be perfect, and Orange is the Only local fireworks show on Sunday, so record crowds are expected again this year.

Town residents are encouraged to arrive early. A reminder that NO open flames, propane containers, individual fireworks or sparklers are permitted.

Food vendors will be in place as early as 5:30 pm.

While on the fairgrounds, be aware of safety zones (marked in white) and follow the guidance of Orange CERT members. Show courtesy to you fellow residents & make use of clearly marked trash & recycling containers. Parents, please watch your children.
