The British Invasion

When the Special Events Committee disappeared in a puff of smoke several moths ago, no one knew if summertime life in Orange would ever be the same. Then First Selectman Jim Zeoli, on behalf of the town and Rocky Salperto of the Orange Town News stepped up to the plate and gave residents the most amazing fireworks spectacular display in town history and began lining up fun bands that everyone wants to hear.

Get ready to say “Ya, Ya, Ya” for a Saturday night concert on the Orange Fairgrounds, 525 Orange Center Road, Tonight, September 1,  from 6:30 to 9 p.m. with “The British Invasion Tribute” in their very first “More than Just The Beatles!” outdoor appearance in Connecticut.

Everyone, including me, was surprised to see people outside the entrance with “$5 Parking” signs. This is a “Donation” for the Amity Teen Center.

This four-man band is a regular at Mohegan Sun Casino and has performed at Asbury Park, Wildwood, Six Flags, Harrah’s Atlantic City, and amusement Parks & Community Festivals throughout NJ, PA & NY.

The Band will performing three full sets of music from the 1960’s:

“The British Invasion” (1964-1967)
Hits from such great groups as the Beatles, Rolling Stones, Kinks, Zombies, Animals, Herman’s Hermits (is anyone as cute at Peter Noone?), Gerry and the Pacemakers, The Searchers, Dave Clark Five, The Kinks, Manfred Mann, Freddie and the Dreamers, The Yardbirds, Donovan, The Hollies, The Spencer Davis Group, The trigs, The Who, Swinging Blue Jeans and Cream

“The American Response” to the British Invasion”
Songs from the Monkees, the Beach Boys, The Birds, the Doors, Simon & Garfunkel,  the Mamas & the Papas, The Turtles, The McCoys, Steppenwolf, The Guess Who, Jefferson Airplane, The Beau rumbles, Credence Clearwater Revival, Paul Revere and the Raiders, Sam the Sham and the Paraohs, The Kinckerbockers, John Fred and his Playboy Band, Tommy James and the Shondells and The Archies (let’s hear it for Kurt Russell).

“Conclusion of the 1960s”
An extraordinary finale featuring a medley of songs from the band that started it all…the Beatles!
The evening finishes off with the Beatles as the band plays the complete side #2 from their fan favorite album “Abbey Road”.

Bring your lawn chairs and blankets, come early for a good spot and relive your teenage years, or find out what your parents were listening to when they were YOUR age.

Don’t forget your picnic basket, but if you do, light snacks and beverages will be available for sale.

Parking and admission are free. Don’t forget to say thanks to Rocky and Jim and other townspeople for bringing you this great family event.
