The Baseball Committee of the Connecticut American Legion has announced its schedule for this weekend’s play-in, single-elimination tournament. Teams that have won 2 games more than 50% of their schedule (ex a team with a 24 game regular season schedule must win 14 games to qualify for this tournament.) Each of the 8 zone champions are exempt from this tournament. Each of the 8 winners of the play-in tournament will qualify for the 16 team, double-elimination state tournament that gets underway Saturday, July 28 in Bristol and Stamford . The Finals will be held on Saturday, August 4 at Muzzy Field in Bristol .
Orange Post 127 finished second in Zone 2 with a 19-5 record. It defeated Branford Post 83 8-4 in the regular season finale on Thursday night. Being the second place team, Post 127 (seeded No. 9) gets a first round bye in the play-in tournament. It will play the winner of Saturday’s New Milford (seeded No. 24) vs. Willimantic (seeded No. 25) on Sunday at 1pm.The game is expected to be played at Brinley Field and the winner will advance to the 16 team double-elimination state tournament.
All state tournament games are 9 inning contests.

The Orange Post 127 Junior Legion team is currently17-5 and sitting in second place in Zone 2. Its’ state single elimination tournament gets underway Saturday, July 28 with the Finals set for August 4 at Muzzy Field in Bristol. Last year the Orange Junior Legion team went to the State Finals before losing to Westbrook.
