Ever since entering high school Lauren Ide, just 14 at the time, knew that she wanted to pursue a career in the film industry. As she went through school at Amity Regional High School she took every film/video class there was offered and then went on to continue her studies at Fairleigh Dickinson University.
At Fairleigh Dickinson, Ide began her journey through film that led her to the specialty of producing, and soon into a path of success. Within her first year, Ide was working on senior thesis films which were just the start. Come her Junior year she was the youngest student to be selected to hold a Line Producing position on a feature film that the school had partnered with professionals to make.
As Ide approached her final year at Fairleigh Dickinson, she was tasked with the difficult process of creating not only her senior thesis film but one for the honors program that she was a part of. Following months of production, Ide had successfully completed her film and it was shown alongside her peers at the Senior Thesis Night in May of 2017. Upon graduation, Ide had not only completed this heart-wrenching film, but she also was one of two recipients of the Achievement Award in Film for the 2017 graduating class.
Shortly after graduating and accepting a position at a film distribution company, DigiNext Films, she was notified of the incredible news that her senior thesis film, “Unheard” was accepted into not one, but two film festivals.
Unheard is a short film about young Emily, a local small-town girl who runs away from home after finally being fed up with the estranged relationship with her parents, and her struggle with being bullied at school. Having left her hearing aids behind, Emily is left to wander the unknown of the world. With little way to communicate and only a few dollars to her name, Emily struggles with her inability to hear. This is Emily’s story, a world without sound.

Unheard will be having its Worldwide Premiere at the Socially Relevant Film Festival in NYC from March 16-22 and will be having its New Jersey Premiere at the Garden State Film Festival from March 22-25.
