The Amity Spartans Swimming and Diving Team hosted the Xavier Falcons from Middletown in Orange on Monday, Feb. 19.

This was a special night for the six Amity seniors: Uranik Klobucishta, Colin Roy, Joe Sugarmann, Blake Wetter, Kevin Yanagisawa and Weichu Yu, who were honored during a brief ceremony before the meet marking their final year on the high school team.

It also was special for Coach Todd Rainey and the rest of the Spartans who celebrated an impressive 101-74 victory.

Kevin Yanagisawa finishes the 100 Butterfly in 53.02

Amity Spartans Boys Swimming and Diving team hosted Glastonbury in Orange Friday night.

Everyone put in his best effort, but in the end, Glastonbury handed Amity it’s second loss of the season (the first was Fairfield Prep). Glastonbury took the long ride back home with a 98-86 victory.

Amity seniors Uranik Klobucishta and Blake Wetter led the Spartans to an 87-72 victory.

On Monday, Jan. 29, the Amity Spartans Swimming and Diving team was on the road at Albertus Magnus for a meet against Notre Dame.

As you may know, the Spartans, under the leadership of Coach Todd Rainey, only lost one game this season — that was to Fairfield Prep. The boys had no problem defeating Notre Dame 102-81 here.

The Amity Swimming and Diving Team was on the road in Waterbury for a meet against Holy Cross on Friday, Jan. 26.

The Spartans have had an amazing season with only one loss — on Monday, Jan. 22 to Fairfield Prep — and they were back in the swim of things tonight showing their true colors with another victory. 94-87.

Everyone knows that Fairfield Prep has an excellent Athletic program, and just the thought of going up against them may strike fear in the hearts of opponents.

The Amity Swimming and Diving Team was on the road at Fairfield University on Monday night.

Going into the meet, Amity was undefeated and Prep’s record was 6-1.

After all the numbers were added up, Prep came out ahead 106-78.

Both teams competed well but in the end, Amity came out on top winning this contest 95-85.
