The fountain was the idea of Lion Ken Lenz, who spoke at the dedication, first about the history of the Lions Club International, which is celebrating its 100th anniversary this year, and then addressing the local Lions contributions to the community.
Selectman Mitch Goldblatt also addressed the Lions in attendance, thanking them for their donation to the town.
Although it was well publicized, only two non-Lions attended the dedication, which is a shame. But people utilizing the walking track did receive Lions Club water bottles that they could fill from the fountain for many years to come.
Enjoy this fountain, everyone. Think about the Lions Club when you fill your water bottles during the Independence Day Concert and Fireworks, or “water” your dog during a walk.
The Lions is one club that really does a lot for the community, don’t forget to say “Thank You” when you see one of them around town.
