BEST-POLICE-Patch-EVER-275x300 4.30.39 PMOn Dec. 5 at 1:42 p.m., Orange Police received a complaint of someone in a vehicle in the Christmas Tree Shop parking lot, 200 Indian River Road, making rapid and repeated gestures with his arm towards his lap while making eye contact with passers-by.

Upon arrival, officers observed the driver, Douglas Kidd, 57, of 24 Easy Rudder Lane, West Haven, making suspicious and furtive movements once he realized that officers were there.

According to the report, Kidd also was unexplainably sweaty and nervous.

He was cited with an infraction ticket for creating a public disturbance for his actions.

BEST-POLICE-Patch-EVER-275x300Orange Police went to Derby Superior Court to serve a warrant on a West Haven man who was appearing on an unrelated matter on Sept. 17 at 10 a.m.

According to the report, Eric Dingus, 36, of 133 Forest Rd, West Haven, was wanted on a warrant stemming from a burglary at the Grid Construction Company, 156 Boston Post Road, in June, where tools valued at a total of $6,530 were taken from the business.

Dingus was charged with third-degree burglary, third-degree larceny and third-degree criminal mischief.

The warrant was served at court and arraignment was immediate.

On March 27, at 3 p.m. Alexander Cuzzocreo, 27, of 30 Prindle Road, West Haven, turned himself in at Police Headquarters after learning of a warrant for his arrest.

According to police, the arrest stemmed from an incident on March 9, 2013 when someone operating heavy equipment caused more than $13,000 worth of damage to the parking lots and lawns of a variety of businesses on Edison Road.

Investigation led to the issuance of an arrest warrant charging first-degree criminal mischief, which was served on the above date and time. 

Cuzzocreo was released after posting $5,000 bond for court April 9.

Suspicious vehicle, drug arrest

Orange police responded to a complaint of a suspicious vehicle parked on the side of Woodland Lane Dec. 4 at 8:59 p.m.

Upon arrival officers approached the  car and found the driver, James Wright, 20, of 282 Terrace Ave., C4, West Haven and a juvenile inside.

During the investigation, Wright reportedly admitted that they were smoking marijuana in the car.

Officers seized a small amount of marijuana and discovered that the license plate on the car was assigned to a different vehicle and that there was no insurance on the car.

Wright was charged with possession of marijuana, driving an unregistered motor vehicle, misuse of marker plates and driving without insurance.

He was released on a promise to appear in court Dec. 18.

On Saturday July 28 at about 1:29 pm officers responded to a reported attempted burglary.

A resident of Fairway Road reported someone rang their door bell and when they did not respond the person began trying to open doors at the house.

A short time later the resident observed a white male run to a nearby waiting red motor vehicle. A description was broadcast to patrols.

A resident of Rainbow Trail then notified police that they observed a red vehicle traveling slowly through that neighborhood. Officers located and stopped a vehicle matching that description and detained the three occupants.

One of the males was identified as the suspect in the attempted burglary.

Police said, Jason McCready 28, of 690 Jones Hill Road, Apt. 9 West Haven was charged with third-degree attempted burglary.

He was held on $100,000.00 bond for court today.

The driver, Louis Ciliberti 23, of 90 Boylston St., Milford, was charged with driving with a suspended license.

He was released.

Of the incident, Asst. Police Chief Edward Koether said, “Through the diligence of the officers as well as the residents who took the time to notice activity and report it to police the incident came to a successful conclusion.”
