Shelton Post 16 failed to show up for Friday night’s scheduled American Legion Zone 2 baseball game against Post 127 of Orange at Brinley Field. As a result, Coach Bob Mirto’s team was awarded a forfeit. With the forfeit, Orange extended its current winning streak to 10 games in a row and ups its record to 16-3. Shelton’s record dips to 9-11 and with only 4 games left, is now unable to win the 14 games required to qualify  for the upcoming state tournament.

Post 127 is back in action on Saturday for a 10 AM road game against East Haven Post 89 at East Haven High School . The same 2 teams face each other again on Sunday in a 7 PM game at Brinley Field.

Orange concludes its regular season with a 3 game series against Branford Post 83 that will take place next Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday nights. The first and third game of that series will be played at Branford High School , starting at 5:45 PM. Orange hosts Post 83 on Wednesday in a 7 PM contest at Brinley Field.

The state-wide single elimination play-in tournament will take place on Saturday, July 21st at the site of the higher ranked team. The 8 zone champions are exempt from that tournament.

The Orange Post 127 Junior Legion team also looks ahead to the upcoming single elimination state tournament. With its 14-5 record and a winning percentage of .737, The Orange Juniors are currently in second place, 3 games behind Branford (17-2, .895) and ranked No. 7 in the state.
