The parking lot of Wood-n-Tap, 311 Boston Post Road, was nearly full Thursday night as the Orange Police Department was participating in the annual Tip-A-Cop event to benefit the CT Special Olympics.
Orange officers, wearing gray T-shirts with an OPD logo on the right front side, offered service with a smile (with the assistance of an experienced waiter) and stopped to chat with guests when they had a chance.
At the end of their meals, diners tipped the officer for his or her service. All tips will help support Special Olympics Athletes in their year-round sports training and competitions.
Sgt. Heather LaRock, who coordinated the event for the department called the evening a great success.
