thThe American Red Cross will host a blood drive at the High Plains Community Center, 525 Orange Center Road on Tuesday, Sept. 23 from 9 a.m. to 2:15 p.m.

Call today to make an appointment at 1-800-RED-CROSS (1-800-733-2767) or visit WWW.redcrossblood.org.

“Please support our community, with the gift of life,” said Paul Leahy of the Red Cross. “Every donation can save up to 3 lives. Every day someone somewhere needs blood. Without dedicated donors like you serving as a vital link between the blood supply and those who need blood, the Red Cross could not carry out its lifesaving mission.”

In order to donate you must be healthy — feel well and be able to perform normal activities.

If you have a chronic condition such as diabetes, healthy also means that you are being treated and the condition is under control.

You must be at least 17 years old and weigh at least 110 pounds.

The Red Cross continually run blood drives..as the need is constant throughout the year. They do declare emergency blood needs around the holidays due to lack of donor flow.

Red blood has a shelf life of 42 days and platelets only 7 days.
