IMG_0245The Amity Spartans Lacrosse Team, under the leadership of Coach Brandon Pepe, have made a name for themselves indeed. No, they didn’t win the SCC title this year… but this afternoon they gave it all they had and won a spot in the state championship lineup by handily defeating West Haven in the CIAC qualifying round at Amity.

The Spartans flew ahead of the Blue Devils 4-1 in the first quarter and never looked back. They added 4 more goals in the second and 3 in the third, then topped it off with 2 final goals to West Haven’s 1 in the final quarter.

It was Amity 13-2 and now they go on to battle with their toughest opponents — Darien on Wednesday at 4:30 p.m. at Darien High School.

“They are one of the premier high school programs in the country having won the past 2 state championships,” Coach Pepe said. “We are playing our best lacrosse at this point in the season and are ready to compete at our best Wednesday.”
