farmers marketThe Orange Community Farmers’ Market is open under the pavilion at the Orange Fairgrounds every Thursday from 3:30 – 7 p.m.

A couple of weeks ago the Zuppardi’s Pizza Truck made its debut there and was met with open arms. This week, however, unless you were at the fairgrounds when the market opened you may have missed getting your pizza.

The truck was double booked, according to some vendors and had to leave Orange to go somewhere else after serving a few customers.

Grassy Hill Farm and Shamrock Farm both had a larger variety of  fresh picked vegetables available, Buttermilk Lane Farm’s beautiful fresh flower bouquets — a bargain at $5 each — were selling well.

The yarn and handcrafted goods at the Maple View Farm table also were selling, with people looking beyond the recent heatwave and summer season and looking ahead to Christmas and Hanukah.

Also back at the market were the local maple syrup, goat soap and Julia’s Bakery.

The new kid on the block was Durante’s Pasta, selling fresh varieties of pasta, sauce and olive oil.

The Farmers’ Market is on hiatus next week because the Orange Volunteer Firemen will be using the pavilion and the entire fairgrounds for its annual Carnival.

The Farmers’ Market will be back on Aug. 6 from 3:30 – 7 p.m.
