During the investigation, officers learned that the drivers of the two cars had been playing ‘chicken’ with their vehicles when the accident occurred.
In the game of chicken, two vehicles drive toward each other on the same path of travel until one of them swerves to avoid contact. The driver of the car that swerves first is then labeled the ‘chicken’.
Officers had one of the drivers, Daniel Nagorski, 38, of 157 Kennedy Drive, Orange, perform standardized roadside sobriety tests.
Both drivers were taken into custody.
Nagorski was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, driving with a suspended license, reckless driving, failure to drive in a proper lane and failure to provide an insurance card.
He was released after posting $500 for court Dec. 23.
Oliwia Bones, 19, of 222 Bradley Ave, Waterbury, was charged with reckless driving and failure to drive in a proper lane.
Bones was released after posting $500 for court Dec. 23.
