State Rep. Pam Staneski, of the 119th District, which includes parts of Orange and Milford announced her decision to run for a second term on Thursday night.

Staneski thanked her supporters and said that it has been an honor to serve the 119th District.  She unveiled her 2016 campaign theme, “A Real Voice for the People,” according to a press release.

“I believe in representative government, and when I was elected in 2014 I made a promise to keep the people of the 119th district informed on state matters, seek their input, and be a voice for them in Hartford.”

She is a member of three bi-partisan coalitions, the Manufacturing caucus, the Individuals with Developmental Disability group and Sportsmen caucus.

Now serving her first term in the state House of Representatives, Staneski is a member of the legislature’s Education, Children, and Veterans Affairs committees.

“Constituency work is important to me—that is my job, to work for and on behalf of the people of the 119th—and that includes continuing to fight for structural changes on the way state finances are run,” Staneski said. “Our state is in fiscal trouble. Last session I voted against the 2nd highest tax increase in the state’s history because I believe Connecticut needs to live, as you and I do, within its means.

“On Tuesday, we voted on the third deficit mitigation plan for the current year,” she continued. “We cannot continue this roller-coaster budgeting practice—the lack of stability at the state level hurts our cities and towns.”

According to a campaign press release, Orange First Selectman Jim Zeoli spoke in support of Staneski, “The residents of the 119th have been very fortunate to have a Representative who has worked so hard for their well being. The Town of Orange is grateful to Pam for her voice in Hartford. Pam is working in a bipartisan manner to be certain all of Connecticut’s families are treated fairly.”
