img_9662The town of Orange hosted its annual Holiday Festival on Sunday, Dec. 4.

The town center was bustling with activity as visitors walked from site to site, admiring the gingerbread houses, looking at the trees inside the library, taking a step back in time at the Stone-Otis House and listening to the bell choir in the church.

The two-hour festival culminated in Santa’s arrival and the Christmas Tree lighting.

The Orange Fire Department delivered Santa and Buddy the Elf to the town green which was a little tricky. While everyone was concentrating on Buddy as he exited the first truck, Santa magically appeared several yards away as he got off of another truck.

All cameras that were pointed in Buddy’s direction, anticipating Santa would be with him, suddenly turned on a dime as the jolly old elf came up behind them.

First Selectman Jim Zeoli invited Orange Lion Marianne Miller to lead the crowd in carols, which she did in spite of a scratchy throat. Santa rounded things off, lending his voice in song,

Winners of various contests were announced, then Buddy assisted the young winner of the Gingerbread House contest in pulling the lever to light the Christmas Tree.

Nearly 100 children and their parents lined up and braved the cold for a chance to see Santa inside his workshop.

Here are some photos from the event.
