Members of the Orange Lions Club recently completed eye screenings for nearly 200 children at Mary L. Tracy School using state of the art camera equipment, and working with Orange School Nursing Director Amy Wargo,

The SCOPE PediaVisionScreener is able to identify vision issues in children aged 2 – 6. By simply taking a picture of a child’s eye in low light from a four foot distance, the Vision Screener measures visual acuity (near – or – far sightedness, “lazy eye,” astigmatism, detached retina, corneal deformity and other potentially serious eye issues. If treated by an eye doctor, these issues can be corrected or cured early to keep vision problems from interfering with education.

In October, the Orange Lions completed eye screenings at several local pre-schools.
