He was born on December 30, 1946, in Bridgeport to the late Leo and Louise DeJoseph Czajkowski and graduated from Fairfield University.
He retired from the US Army Reserve on August 7, 1997, after serving proudly as a Major in the Adjutant General’s Corp, where he also was an instructor for the US Army Command and General Staff College
A self-employed sales executive, he was an active member of the community, serving as past commander of the American Legion Post #127 in Orange, on Phi Kappa Theta Foundation Board, a volunteer liaison officer CT Army Retiree Council, West Point Military Retiree Council and a member of the Orange Republican Town Committee.
He was the Sons and Daughters’ of Italy Citizen of the Year in 2009. He also was a Republican candidate for CT House of Representative, served on the PKT Foundation and a member of Knights of Columbus, Breen Chapter.
A devoted husband, father, brother and grandfather, he is survived by his loving wife Janet Oster Czajkowski, daughters Tracy Knochen and her husband James of Cornwall, NY and Amanda Perla and her husband Josh Gelfand of Los Angeles, CA, brother Leo Czajkowski and his wife Jean of Trumbull and grandchildren Matthew, Christian, Brianna, Jordan, Tristan, and Zachary Knochen and Gram and Tess Gelfand.
Calling hours are Friday, June 30, 2017, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Smith Funeral Home, 135 N Broad St., Milford.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, July 1st at 9 a.m. in St. Mary’s Church, 35 Gulf St., Milford.
Interment will in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Buckingham Ave. Milford with military honors.
