Orange Police responded to a motor vehicle accident in the 600 block of Dogwood Road on Saturday, Feb. 2 at 10:43 p.m.
Upon arrival, officers reportedly observed Nina Steele, 34, of West Haven standing on the side of the road near the accident. According to the report, her speech was slurred and her eyes were bloodshot.
She stated that she did not know what she hit in the road. (Officers discovered it was a mailbox). Officers administered standardized field sobriety tests. Subsequently, Steele was taken into custody and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs and failure to drive in a proper lane.
Steele posted a $50 cash bond and she was given a court date of Feb. 15.
