Man Charged With Carrying A Firearm While Under The Influence

On Saturday, Feb. 2, at 8:15 p.m., Orange police were dispatched to Marsh Hill Road on a report of an erratic driver. 

The driver, later identified as John E. Kouremetis, 38, of Branford, then began to follow and throw beer bottles at another vehicle. 

Police stopped the car and, according to the report, Kouremetis was behind the wheel with a strong smell of alcoholic beverage emanating from the vehicle.  Officers administered Standardized Sobriety Field Tests, and also discovered a firearm and controlled substances within his vehicle.

Kouremetis was taken into custody and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, illegal operation of a motor vehicle to harass/intimidate, carrying a firearm under the influence of alcohol or drugs, possession of a controlled substance and failure to drive in a proper lane.

Kouremetis posted a $500 bond and was given a court date of Feb. 19.
