The Amity Varsity Hockey teams will play today.

The Boys will be on the road at the Danbury Ice Arena – Patriot Rink for a game against Newtown at 5:30 p.m.

The Girls Blades co-op team (Amity-Cheshire-North Haven) will be at home in Hamden at the Lou Astorino Ice Rink to play against the Hamden-Wilbur Cross-Lyman Hall co-op at 4 p.m.

We wish both teams the best and encourage you to play like the 1980 USA Olympic Team.

Thank You ALL for giving us some very exciting and rewarding moments this season. Win or Lose, you were always champions in our hearts.

Go Get Em!

To the coaches, you did a great job as well. Thank you for all of your cooperation and patience this season.

The Blades Girls’ Ice Hockey Team (Amity-North Haven-Cheshire) hosted the Daniel Hand Tigers in Shelton on Friday, Jan. 6.

Hand took an early lead with Haley Rodham scoring on an assist from Daphne Tucker at 4:19 in the first period. A little more than two minutes later, at 1:55, Bridget Dwyer scored on assists from Bradie Stryker and Sarah Conroy. Score 2-0 Hand.

After a scoreless second period the Blades came alive in the third beginning with a goal by Andrea Delvecchio, assisted by Shannon Reilly at 6:17; with just 36 seconds left in the period, Nadia DeNatale tied the game 2-2 with an unassisted goal.

The game went into overtime, and in spite of some great plays on both sides, Hand’s Bridget Dwyer shot the game winning goal at 4:00.

The Blades outshot the Tigers 24-17.

Hand wins 3-2.

Oh, Yes She Did!

Oh, Yes She Did!

The Amity Girls are part of a co op hockey team known as the Blades. On Wednesday, Jan. 28, they went up against the Notre Dame Raiders in Shelton.

The Blades came out strong in the first period scoring their first goal within the first 2 minutes.

At 11:44 they scored again; and less than a minute later at 10:46, they struck again; at 9:30 the fourth goal came in; with just 2:11 left in the period number 5.

End of period score 5-0 Blades.

The second period started strong too, in the first 56 seconds the Blades scored but it wasn’t until there were only 16.3 seconds remaining that they scored again — leaving the Raiders scoreless.

End of period score 7-0 Blades.

In the third period the Blades again was first to score. At 11:11 they logged the 8th point of the game.

In the last 4:30 Notre Dame finally got on the scoreboard, followed by a final goal by the Blades.

Final Score Blades 9 – Notre Dame 1.
