Mi Sun, 6 months, a Korean Sapsaree, has been visiting the children of Orange’s after school program the “School of the 21st Century” since she was 3 months old.

The children learned about the ancient breed, how it nearly became extinct during the Japanese Occupation and how a caring Korean Doctor brought the breed back from the eight dogs that survived.

The children watched Mi Sun grow from a little handful to a 40 lb medium sized dog, answering questions about what was different about her “this week” as she is like the horse of a different color, going from nearly totally black (except for her paws) as a puppy, to taking on a hint of gray on her head and back, to the multi-colored beauty that she is today.

Their time together was always special with the children gathering around her and taking her for walks, running after a ball, or sitting down for quiet time. She just wanted to please everyone.

Mi Sun visited each of the three elementary schools on a rotating basis on Thursday afternoons, but this week, she went to Turkey Hill and Peck Place Schools one last time before summer vacation.

Stay tuned to Orange Live for more on Mi Sun and her story.
