Amity Senior Caroline Cadelina, who plays defense for the Blades Girls Ice Hockey team has earned a place on the Connecticut High School Girls Ice Hockey Association Team.

Cadelina has played for the Blades for her entire High School career. She’s been quite an asset to the team, and it’s been a pleasure watching her play.

Congratulations Caroline! Well Deserved!

The Blades (Amity/North Haven/Cheshire) Girls Ice Hockey team went up against the Milford Co-op in Milford on Wednesday, March 3.

First Period

The Blades came on strong in the first period with two goals, first by Mia Dow, assisted by Olivea Kosh, followed by Sammy Drane, assisted by Avery DePodesta.

First-period score 2-0

Second Period

The Blades were very much in control of this one too. Caroline Cadelina started things off with a solo goal bringing the score to 3-0.

Milford’s Jenna Johnson put her team on the scoreboard, assisted by Charlotte Dworski

But the Blades would have none of that. Izzy Guillotte helped keep her team’s comfortable three-point lead on an assist from Drane.

Second-period score 4-1

Third Period

The Blades’ Cadelina got this period rolling, too, this time assisted by  DePodesta.

Milford’s Justina Holland ended the game with a goal, assisted by Sarah Casey and Maddie David.

Final score 5-2

On Wednesday, Feb. 24, the Blades (Amity/North Haven/Cheshire) took on the Milford Co-op at the Lou Astorino Rinks in Hamden

Blades vs Milford Co-op

The first period was scoreless, but Milford made put the pressure on in the second when Jenna Johnson made a solo goal.

The Blades’ Caroline Cadelina tied the game in the third period, and that’s as far as it went.

The girls went into overtime and the game ended in a 1-1 tie.

Blades vs Hamden Co-op

The competition on Saturday, Feb. 27, between the Blades and the Hamden Co-op also took place in Hamden

First Period

Hamden got the game started with a goal by Tania Cruz assisted by Alyssa Iorfino.

Second Period

In the second, the Blades answered with Mia Dow tying the game on an assist from Caroline Cadelina.

Then Avery DePodesta pulled the Blades ahead to 2-1 assisted by Kelsey McCarthy.

Not to be outdone, Cruz scored for Hamden on an assist from Ella Miller tying the game at 2-2.

Third Period

The Blades came out with a vengeance in the final period McCarthy scored the tie-breaker, assisted by Depodesta and  Cadelina.

On Monday, Feb. 17, the Amity/North Haven/Cheshire Blades were away in Newington for a matchup against Avon/Southington.

First Period

in spite of some valiant efforts, neither team was able to score in the first.

Second Period

The second period belonged to Avon, with with Mackenzie Gallinoto making the first goal, assisted by Kori Bartko and Sarah Murphy.

A little later, Shelby Little shot one in assisted by Gallinoto and Murphy. Avon left the ice with a comfortable 2-0 lead.

Third Period

The Blades came out on fire with two unassisted goals, first by Caroline Cadelina, then Tess Csejka tying the game.

But Avon’s Murphy would have none of that, she hit the winning goal, assisted by Little.

The Blades lost this one 3-2.

On Monday, Feb. 18, the Blades (Amity, Cheshire, North Haven) girls’ Ice Hockey team hosted the Guilford Indians for the SCC South Quarter Final game in Hamden.

The Blades had a shaky start to the regular season this year, but once they figured things out, they never looked back, and the run for the SCC title is off to a good start.

The Blades took this one 5-3.

In the first period, the Blades came out strong, taking the lead with goals from Haley Cable, assisted by Andrea DelVecchio and DelVecchio netting one, assisted by Cable and Caroline Cadelina.

Then, Guilford’s Madison Epke fought back with a goal for the Indians, assisted by Daniella Vickerman.

Score: 3-1 Blades

Cadelina made the only goal in the second period, assisted by Tess Csejka.

Score: 3-1 Blades

Returning to the ice for the third period, Epke scored for the Indians again, assisted by Vickerman.

Shannon Reilly moved the Blades further ahead with a goal, assisted by DelVecchio. Then, Cadelina scored again.

Guilford’s Vickerman made the final goal, assisted by Audrey Rowen and Olivia Gill.

Final Score: 5-3 Blades

The Goaltenders were busy during this game. The Blades’ Caitlin Ranciato made 24 saves, and Brielle Kendrioski made 20 saves for Guilford.

Blades Advance to the Semi-Final.

The Blades Girls Ice Hockey team (Amity/North Haven/Cheshire) was on the road in East Haven on Saturday, Dec. 15 for a game against the always strong Guilford team.

In the first period, the Blades’ Caroline Cadelina put her team up on the board first with an unassisted goal.

Guilford’s Danialla Vickerman tied things up on an assist from Jacquelyn Violette and Madison Epke. Then Lily Mackey pulled Guilford into the lead assisted by Sydney Miles.

Score: 2-1 Guilford

In the second period, Miles scored an unassisted goal, followed by an additional point by Olivia Gill, assisted by Madison Epke

The Blades’- Haley Cable narrowed the score on an assist from Shannon Reilly and Mia Dow.

Score: 4-2 Guilford

The Blades battled in the third period, determined not to lose this matchup. Andrea DelVecchio made a goal assisted by Meaghan Hogan and Shannon Reilly, bringing the score to 4-3, but that was the best they could do.

The Blades lost to Guilford.

Blades Goalie Caitlin Ranciato worked so hard and made a difference.

Records: Blades 0-3, Guilford 1-1

The Blades next game is on Wednesday at their home ice – Hamden Ice Rink at 8 p.m. They’ll be playing West Haven – SHA (2-0 both of which were shutouts).
