On Tuesday, Aug. 24 at 10:26 p.m. officers were dispatched to the area of 340 Boston Post Road  (near the Shell Food Mart) on a report of an erratic driver.

The car was stopped and police spoke to the driver, Sean Naughton, 31, of Westbrook who reportedly refused to produce his driver’s license and presented to be under the influence of a substance.  

He was asked to perform Standardized Sobriety Field Tests.  

Subsequently, he was taken into custody and charged with interference/resisting arrest, driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs and use of an improper lane. 

Naughton was released on a promise to appear in court on Sept. 2.

On Saturday, Feb. 2, at 8:15 p.m., Orange police were dispatched to Marsh Hill Road on a report of an erratic driver. 

The driver, later identified as John E. Kouremetis, 38, of Branford, then began to follow and throw beer bottles at another vehicle. 

Police stopped the car and, according to the report, Kouremetis was behind the wheel with a strong smell of alcoholic beverage emanating from the vehicle.  Officers administered Standardized Sobriety Field Tests, and also discovered a firearm and controlled substances within his vehicle.

Kouremetis was taken into custody and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, illegal operation of a motor vehicle to harass/intimidate, carrying a firearm under the influence of alcohol or drugs, possession of a controlled substance and failure to drive in a proper lane.

Kouremetis posted a $500 bond and was given a court date of Feb. 19.

Orange police responded to a report of an erratic driver traveling in the wrong lane on Old Tavern Road on June 10 at 6:38 p.m.

Officers stopped the car near Drummond Road and during the investigation, they reportedly detected the odor of an unknown alcoholic beverage emanating from the driver’s breath.

Lee Porcu, 37, of New Haven was administered standardized field sobriety tests and he was subsequently taken into custody and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, evading responsibility, failure to drive in a proper lane and following too close.

 

Porcu was released on a $50 cash bond for court June 26.

orange police duiOrange police officers on routine patrol saw a car driving erratically on Racebrook Road and pulled it over at 9:36 p.m. on July 5.

Officers administered standardized roadside sobriety tests on Peter Clement, 49, of 72 Dwight St., Ansonia, after which he was taken into custody and charged with driving while under the influence of alcohol or drugs (DUI) and failure to maintain a proper lane.

He was released after posting a $50 bond for court July 19.
