Several residents have called, e-mailed, and texted Orange Live regarding a housing development planned for 35 Old Tavern Road, the Firelight Plaza.

What we learned is that an application has been submitted to amend the text in the Orange (LSC) Local Shopping Center District Regulations at the plaza.

The applicant wants to add a mixed-use residential development limited to the area served by public water and sewer.

NO Housing Application Has been submitted at this time.

Some time ago, a large 3-4 story retail/residential structure was requested, but that is not the same application.

Currently, there is not much information available. There are no drawings, except for a residential density map and other things the TPZC would understand.

This application is only for a text change to the zoning regulations, but residents should be aware of this from the beginning.

The next Town Plan and Zoning Commission Meeting will take place on August 6.
